Manchester City linked with Liverpool ace
Manchester City have been linked with a move for Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel in The Daily Mail.
The newly-crowned Premier League champions are expected to add a number of new faces to their squad this summer, as they look to assault both domestic competitions and the Champions League.
A new centre-half if thought to be on Roberto Mancini’s wishlist, as he eyes added depth to first-choice players Vincent Kompany and Joleon Lescott.
The Italian coach is thought to not be convinced in the abilities of back-ups Kolo Toure and Stefan Savic, and as such is ready to bring in another experienced centre-half during the transfer window.
Skrtel has been speculated as being unhappy at Anfield after a largely mediocre season for Liverpool, and has recently bemoaned a poor season on Merseyside.
“Everybody knows it wasn’t a great season because we finished in eighth position and that’s not good.
“I think we deserved to finish higher than eighth position, but there were too many games in which we didn’t get three points – and there were too many games in which we didn’t get what we deserved,” he stated.
Brendan Rodgers is thought to be keen to hold onto the Slovakian by offering him a new deal, whilst the defender may well be ready to listen to other offers to increase his chances of winning silverware.
